The House
The House of Mirrors is a group of young artists, friends really, from Miami, who were constantly coming up with great ideas for all sorts of things running the gamut of the art spectrum, but never actually doing anything. This website, this community as it were, is the result of this group saying, “lets fuckin’ do something!”
Then let us begin! For your consideration, we are extremely pleased to present to you three creations from the collected talent of the House of Mirrors – The Hall of Echoes podcast, Out of Stock Films, and the My-ami: Our-ami blog. We will also be featuring several individual projects from our esteemed members. The stated goal of the House of Mirrors is to build a hub for art, ideas, and good feelings in our beloved Miami, where budding artists can exchange ideas, conversation, and develop their projects. Assuming of course the sum is greater than the parts theorem – the product or sum of this community will ideally be something wholly new, something worth doing. A goal admittedly difficult, in this our modern age.
We are bound (or rather unbound) by the philosophy of Beautifism, something we will tease out as we go, the principle tenants being:
- Everything is beautiful no matter how ugly – insofar as it contributes to the totality of potential human actions or that it extends the total range and breadth of the definition of humanity based on what we as a species are capable of or have done.
- Everyone is welcome. As we are all beautiful. So welcome! Please feel free to look at our various tentacles, enjoy and be amazed! If you wish to join us, leave a self addressed envelope in the heart of a withered oak tree at midnight during the next virgin moon, or send us an email, everyone is welcome.
Beautifism is our underlying motif, as all great groups have an -ism or an -ist to which they adhere and for which they are granted purpose and direction. And so – we are Beautifists. Two things must be noted, first the level to which beautifism influences our work has been heretofore extremely limited, as apparent by the content currently available. Second, not all of us are beautifists, and that certainly is not a requisite for membership, but hey, it’s a fun little idea that sparks plenty of interesting conversation.
